Welcome to the BYO Staff Portal
Training, guides and the rota, all in one place.
Thank you for volunteering
Thank you for giving your time to Britannia Youth Organisation. Every session you help create a safe, fun place where young people in our community can play, learn and grow, and that matters more than you might think.
This portal has everything you need to feel confident on the day: step-by-step training for each type of session, our guides, and the rota where you choose which sessions to help with. If you're new, start with Safeguarding, then complete the training for the session you're joining.
Safeguarding: everyone's responsibility
- Wear your staff badge and high-vis vest for the whole session, so children and parents always know who you are.
- Never be alone with a child in a room out of sight of others. Keep doors open and stay where other adults can see you.
- Don't share personal phone numbers or social media with young people, and don't take photos of children on your own phone.
- If a child tells you something worrying, listen calmly. Don't promise to keep it secret, write down what they said in their own words, and tell the Designated Safeguarding Lead the same day.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call 999 first.
Training
Read the module for your session and its full SOP, then take the short quiz so we know you're ready.
Rota
Pick the day you can help and your first name will appear below. On sports Sundays the session lead (Edrissa Cham), setup (Raeesa Sumble) and kitchen (Hussain Ali) are already covered, so you'll be one of our two floor supervisors. Bigger events like pumpkin carving, Bonfire Night and the Christmas party are led by Raeesa Sumble and have more spaces. You'll get a confirmation email with your arrival time, and a reminder the day before.
Can't make a session you signed up for? Please tell Hassan as early as you can on 07346 216302.
