Health Data Research UK Visit — Data Literacy Project Week 3
This Sunday marked week three of our data literacy project, and we were joined by Ali Timmons, MSc from Health Data Research UK (HDR UK).
The session explored how everyday habits — screen time, mood, exercise, sleep — are all connected, and how tracking these patterns can offer real insight into our daily lives. Each young person created their own personal data tracker to take home, collecting and monitoring their own information over the week before discussing their findings together next Sunday.
At the end of the session, Ali shared her personal journey and her role in public health data research, explaining how her work makes data understood and accessible to everyone. The children had plenty of questions — covering everything from AI to what the future of data looks like in our world.
The afternoon rounded off with Xenara food packages for everyone to take home.
A huge thank you to Ali and HDR UK for making it happen. This is exactly what our work is about: giving young people access to experiences, knowledge, and people that open up their world.
