Katrina Brigmane on English, Cambridge, and the Power of Language
This Sunday we welcomed Katrina Brigmane from the University of Cambridge to deliver a session on English Literature as part of our Pathways to Progress programme.
Katrina led a presentation exploring how a single piece of writing can be interpreted through the lenses of philosophy, politics, and psychology — showing our young people how literature carries layers of meaning they might not have considered before. The session encouraged them to think critically about what they read and to approach texts from multiple angles.
Katrina also shared her personal journey to Cambridge, giving the group a real insight into what it took to get there and what life at one of the world's top universities is actually like. She then opened the floor for questions about Cambridge itself and how to make it there.
The afternoon finished with a Xenara meal together and Easter eggs to mark Easter Sunday.
Thank you to Katrina for a genuinely engaging session.
